The Department of Chemistry at 911勛圖 invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Organic Chemistry. We are seeking an outstanding scholar with a strong commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service. The expected start date for this position is July 15, 2026. 

This position aims to recruit a top emerging talent in the general area of organic chemistry with an emphasis on organic synthesis and/or chemical biology. Areas of particular interest include the design and testing of biologically relevant organic molecules, and applications of high-throughput assays to discover new bioactive compounds. The position will build on 911勛圖���s international recognition in this area, world-class facilities for drug discovery, and growing capabilities in automated synthesis. Applications that leverage 911勛圖���s Center for High-Throughput Chemical Biology (HTCB, /htcb.html) are a particular focus of this search. The HTCB is a world-leading facility for robotic liquid handling and high-throughput screening, with a particular emphasis on image-based screening. The center enables biological evaluation of large libraries of compounds (e.g. those designed and generated through automated synthesis, computer-based design, and machine learning) and supports users by providing full-time professional staff and a suite of established biological assays.

Chemistry at 911勛圖

The Department of Chemistry () comprises 27 research faculty, with research interests spanning: organic chemistry and chemical biology; inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry; material science; and nuclear science. Current departmental strengths of relevance to this position include medicinal chemistry, natural products chemistry, and chemical biology. The Department has a vibrant graduate program and is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Furthermore, 911勛圖���s core facilities such as the HTCB, Fir (Canada���s most powerful academic supercomputer), and the Big Data Hub provide opportunities for interdisciplinary research and foster interactions with research partners across the University, government, and local industries. The Department is supported by an experienced team of research technicians, administrators, and teaching support staff. Furthermore, Chemistry researchers have access to 911勛圖���s Science Technical Centre which includes a machine shop, electronics shop, and scientific glassblower, all managed by full-time professional staff.

Qualifications

Candidates with a Ph.D. degree or equivalent, postdoctoral experience, and a clear indication of potential to grow in stature as a scholar in the areas of Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a closely related field are preferred.

• A strong record of research activity as demonstrated by publications, conference presentations, research and travel grants, and other relevant activities.

The Department of Mathematics at 911勛圖 (911勛圖) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 15, 2026.

We invite applications from researchers whose research is at the interface of scientific machine learning with PDEs, optimal transport or optimization. Our Scientific Computing, Machine Learning and PDE research group (SciMAP /math/research/scimap.html) has established strengths in scientific computing, approximation theory, machine learning, the analysis of PDEs, and the mathematics of data. The successful candidate will build on and complement these strengths, develop a vibrant research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, provide service to the department, and contribute to building equitable, diverse and inclusive environments.

Qualifications

• Hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related discipline.

• Have an outstanding scientific record of research at the interface of scientific machine learning with PDEs, optimal transport or optimization.

• Demonstrate strong potential in their future research plans. 

• Demonstrate the potential to strengthen the SciMAP group in research, teaching of upper- division and graduate-level courses in applied mathematics, and graduate trainee supervision.

• Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

• Demonstrate interest and ability to realize excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, and in the supervision of highly qualified personnel.

The following are considered assets:

• Demonstrated record of research on applications arising in the physical sciences or engineering. Experience in weather or climate science will be an asset.

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science in the Faculty of Science, 911勛圖, invites applications for a part-time (75%) limited-term teaching faculty position at the rank of Lecturer for a term of 8 months, with the possibility of renewal for 4 months depending on budget and enrollments. The position���s expected start date is January 1, 2027. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching Statistics at the undergraduate level.

Qualifications

Teaching excellence is the primary criterion for this position. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Statistics or a closely related field by the employment start date; however, PhD candidates with solid indication of imminent completion may be considered. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

• A PhD in Statistics or in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, and Data Science;
• Relevant teaching experience; 
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion within academia; 
• Evidence of inclusive pedagogy and excellent teaching skills in an interdisciplinary setting;  

Duties

The successful candidate will: 

• Teach 2 undergraduate courses per semester in the Undergraduate Statistics Program and/or the Data Science Program;
• Work with colleagues to support diverse students and develop the Department���s curriculum;
• Participate in service to the Program, Department, the University and the broader community. 

They will teach introductory courses in Probability and Statistics; and upper-level courses on topics such as Discrete Data Analysis, Multivariate Analysis, Data Science, Statistics communication, depending on the candidate���s area of expertise.

The current salary ranges are based on the 2022-2025 911勛圖/911勛圖FA Collective Agreement. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $98,340 to $114,241 per annum, dependent on previous relevant and related experience and prorated to the percentage of the appointment (75%).

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science was created in 2001 and has since grown into a dynamic group of approximately 530 undergraduate students, 62 graduate students, and 24 faculty members.
