MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

The following Sessional Instructor appointment is expected to be available in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry during the Fall 2026 term: Sept. 2, 2026 to Dec. 24, 2026.

Course:    MBB 321-3 (Intermediary Metabolism)
Salary:    $7,718 (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)
Class Schedule:    12:30 - 1:20 M/W/F, 911³Ô¹Ï Burnaby Campus

Course description:  The enzymes and intermediates of major catabolic and anabolic pathways, their regulation and integration in health and disease states. Please also refer to the course outline /outlines.html?2026/fall/mbb/321/d100.

Responsibilities: The instructor will deliver lectures working from a standard set of prepared slides, provide offices per week, prepare student assessments (assignments, quizzes, exams), invigilate mid-term and final exams, evaluate assessments with the support of Teaching Assistants (TAs), and train and supervise TAs.

Minimum qualifications:

• M.Sc. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomolecular Physiology or related discipline with a working knowledge of organic chemistry
• experience teaching student carbohydrate, lipid, amino acid metabolism, enzymatic regulation and kinetics
• experience evaluating student learning through a variety of assessment formats including lab reports, quizzes and experimental results
• excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
