INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

911³Ô¹Ï has more than 30 years of experience in developing and deepening relationships with international communities and stakeholders at home and abroad. Our global engagement includes 250 current international partnerships in over 70 countries for research, experiential learning, academic collaborations and sustainable development projects.

911³Ô¹Ï International recognizes that universities have a crucial role to play in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through thought leadership, knowledge generation, education, and global engagement. In 2021, 911³Ô¹Ï International and 911³Ô¹Ï Sustainability co-led a project to broaden and deepen our understanding of current activities and potential for our institution to contribute to the SDGs, a project that continues today.

As an institution, 911³Ô¹Ï has made a number of strides in pursuit of this goal. Some include:

  • The development of the 2023-2028 Strategic Research Plan, which puts the SDGs and environmental concerns front and centre.
  • The offering of five undergraduate programs in sustainability and sustainable development.
  • The reduction of GHG emissions by 35% over 2007 levels since 2016.
  • Our work as part of international networks such as the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU).

911³Ô¹Ï INTERNATIONAL SDG INITIATIVE PHASE II - GUIDING QUESTIONS AND SDG FRAMEWORK

In a cooperative effort with 911³Ô¹Ï Sustainabilty, 911³Ô¹Ï International has produced a framework for global engagement which aligns global partnerships and initiatives with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The framework is also aligned with What's Next: The 911³Ô¹Ï Strategy and 911³Ô¹Ï's 2023-2028 Strategic Research Plan.

By considering the framework and its guiding questions when developing new partnerships or initiatives, we ensure that our global engagement strategy centres the SDGs and that these programs reflect our values of mutuality, equity and innovation.
