	Mandatory for new/young workers. Complete the orientation checklist or the checklist version specifically for Laboratory workers. For 911吃瓜-affiliated personnel who do not have a 911吃瓜 computing ID set up, please email labsafe@sfu.ca to register. Refresher training is recommended every 5 years

Laboratory and Chemical Safety Training

Training	Information
EHS Safety Essentials	Everyone working in a lab Includes Laboratory Ergonomics and Laboratory Evacuation Procedures modules Training validity: 5 years
EHS Laboratory Safety (includes WHMIS 2015)	Anyone working in a lab area that has chemicals Training validity: 5 years
	Anyone working where hazardous products are used, stored or handled Training validity: 5 years
	Anyone that handles and stores hazardous chemicals in their laboratory space
	Anyone participating in a laboratory inspection Training validity: 5 years

Biosafety

Radiation Safety Refresher Training	Anyone who previously completed 911吃瓜 Radiation Safety Training and in need of a refresher Validity: 3 years
Radiation Safety Training for Principal Investigators	Anyone holding a radiation safety permit To be complete once
Radiation Safety Training - Sealed Sources and Portable Gauges	Anyone using sealed sources of radioactivity and portable gauges Validity: 3 years
Radiation Safety Orientation	Available between offered semesterly training under exceptional circmstances. Full training course still required at next offering Contact Radiation Safety for more info
X-Ray Safety Orientation	Anyone using X-Ray generating equipment (e.g. X-Ray diffractometers, X-Ray fluorescent guns, X-Ray imaging equipment) Validity: 5 years
Laser Safety Training	Anyone working with or near lasers Validity: 5 years

Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Training	Information
	Receivers of dangerous goods shipments (e.g. front desk staff) as well as personnel who work with hazardous materials and will benefit from learning the basics of TDG. Training validity: 5 years

	Facilities Services staff working with or around controlled products Training validity: 3 years
	Facillities Services staff who may enter a laboratory space containing hazards including, but not limited to, chemicals, biohazards, radiation sources, X-rays, lasers, surper magnets, etc. Training validity: 3 years

EHS has developed a variety of training courses to support members of the Local Joint Health and Safety Committees (LJHSCs) and the Central University Health and Safety Committee (CUHSC) in completing safety committee activities.
