Kathleen Hepburn: Outstanding Alumni Award

Hepburn's dramatic debut feature, , which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and was featured in TIFF Canadas Top Ten, "celebrates the quiet strength of the human spirit, dealing with issues of loss, masculinity, and love through the lives of an eighteen-year-old oil field worker, and his mother, who has been living with Parkinson's disease." The film won Best Canadian Film and Best Director from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, the WIDC Feature Film Award and Best Screenplay at the 2014 Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, the Special Jury Prize at the Dublin International Film Festival, and received many other nominations and accolades. Hepburn founded , an independent production company, with fellow SCA alumni and filmmaker Tyler Hagan, who also co-produced Never Steady, Never Still with her.
