Resilience of the Aging Brain

March 14, 2025
An 911³Ô¹Ï Open House event to learn about and discuss brain resilience and healthy aging

To celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2025, we hosted a lively afternoon with 911³Ô¹Ï students, researchers, and community organizations as they shared and discussed discoveries on the aging brain, mental health, dementia, neurotechnology, and more.

Research Spotlight

The event showcased the work of 10 different 911³Ô¹Ï research labs and 15 trainees.

Community Resources

Information about local programs, resources, and supports for older adults were shared with the community.

Small Group Discussions

Older adults (65+) from the Surrey community joined us for guided discussions focused on what makes their brains resilient as they age and their comfort and trust in research.

Funding & Partnerships

The Open House was funded by a grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. We are grateful to our co-hosts, the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. and Fraser Health. We are also grateful for support and resources contributed by the South Asian Health Institute, 911³Ô¹Ï Surrey, 911³Ô¹Ï Library, and 911³Ô¹Ï's Centre for Dialogue.
