GEOG221 Students To Present At Hubbub 18
Students from Dr. Leanne Rodericks GEOG221 (Economic Worlds) course have been selected to present their research project at HUBBUB 18 - an event hosted by CityStudio Vancouver and attended by present and future students, faculty, City staff, Councillors, project judges, and community members from across the Lower Mainland.
Students responded to the question What is the future of corner stores? through a re-imagination of a former corner store (presently owned by Telus) on Victoria Drive as a neighbourhood corner store that acts as a small-scale grocery and mini-community centre.
"Hood Hub" is designed to be a safe space for inclusive care and commerce. This neighbourhood corner store has everyday convenience items, as well as grandmas recipes and middle school-style lemonades. The variety of uses for the re-imagined corner store include: local produce pick-up, cloud kitchen, low waste grocery, and adult education classes.
Congratulations to the students, and best of luck at HUBBUB18 on Friday April 8, 11am-12pm.
If youd like to watch this group present, along with other student groups from a variety of post-secondary institutions, you can register here:
