2024 Esri Canada GIS Scholarship for 911³Ô¹Ï
Esri Canada is a privately held Canadian-owned company providing world-class enterprise geographic information systems (GIS) solutions and is deeply committed to supporting GIS education and research. The company is offering a one-time award to support a currently enrolled undergraduate and/or graduate student pursuing formal GIS studies or courses at 911³Ô¹Ï. The award is merit-based and facilitates sustained studies in GIS by providing: a one-time payment of CAN$ 2,000; a three-year license of Esri's ArcGIS software for student use; a three-year professional-level subscription for the ArcGIS Developer Program (ADP); a three-year license for Premium Apps; selected Esri Press digital publications; two Esri Canada instructor-led training courses; registration to one of Esri Canada's User Conferences and much more; all with a total value in excess of CAN$ 50,000.
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at 911³Ô¹Ï;
- For undergraduate students: Hold a minimum overall GPA of at least a B+, and completed a number of undergraduate GIS related courses or co-op experience or research where relevant;
- For graduate students: Pursuing graduate studies or research that has a significant GIS component;
- Competent in using mostly Esri technologies for independent geospatial analysis, modeling and problem-solving.
APPLICATION PACKAGE
- POSTER (24 inches wide x 36 inches high, portrait orientation, least 300dpi, *.pdf format, < 10MB file size): The analysis presented in the poster and paper must be innovative, recent and individual work sufficiently rigorous in the GIS methods and problems addressed. The poster, to be displayed at an Esri User Conference, should highlight the objectives, methods, results, conclusions and references used in your work. The work may be a significant project component of a regular course taken at 911³Ô¹Ï. Submissions already in the peer-review journal publication process, multiple author works, and works not completed as a registered full-time 911³Ô¹Ï student will be at a disadvantage;
- REPORT (800-1000 words maximum excluding abstract and references, 1.5 line spacing, 1-inch margins, balanced use of relevant visual elements such as text, diagrams, maps and tables): the report (*.pdf) should be structured into categories that include: abstract, introduction, data and methods, results and discussion, conclusion and references. Instead of the written report, you can articulate the same information as an informative Story Map in ArcGIS Online;
- RESUME: provide a one-page resume (*.pdf) that includes your current contact information;
- ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT: unofficial transcript (*.pdf) indicating a minimum B+ average in overall GPA. Using one separate sheet of single-sided paper (*.pdf), indicate only the GIS related course numbers and titles as well as co-op experience if relevant, and briefly state how you used Esri GIS technology in each course or co-op experience;
- LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: provide a one-page signed recommendation letter (*.pdf) from a Faculty member who may be familiar with your work that resulted in the poster and report.
