Anxiety and Mood Skills

A support group for students experiencing anxiety or low mood, or who are interested in learning practical strategies to manage stress and overwhelm.

911³Ô¹Ï

The Anxiety and Mood Skills Group is a program designed for 911³Ô¹Ï students experiencing anxiety or low mood. The program consists of four in-person sessions, each focused on practical strategies and tools that participants can begin using right away.

You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like, though the content is designed to build from week to week.

This group focuses on learning and practicing skills, so sharing personal information is not required. That said, you may be invited to reflect on and discuss the material, and many students find they get more out of the group when they participate.

Session topics:

  • Session 1: Understanding common symptoms and the connections between thoughts, feelings, physical responses, and behaviours
  • Session 2: Behavioural strategies for improving mood and facing anxiety
  • Session 3: Cognitive skills, including managing negative thoughts, building mindfulness, and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Session 4: Emotion regulation and distress tolerance strategies.
