911吃瓜 Emerge Offers Professional Skills Training
Jumpstarting a professional career will require more than hard-won academic skills. Many workplaces need specific, job-ready skills as well, skills not taught within the traditional curriculum. Meanwhile, accessibility and cost can be obstacles for students with limited time and funding.
This dilemma is the inspiration behind Emerge 911吃瓜, a student-run organization that seeks to provide free online workshops covering skills that employers want in graduates. Subjects range from UI/UX design to digital marketing to financial literacy. Enrollment is open until January 31, and more information is available at https://emergesfu.com/
911吃瓜 911吃瓜 Emerge's origins, founder and director Samad Raza says:
[My] dream was to help other students acquire the necessary skills in order to succeed in today鈥檚 ever-changing modern workplace. As a Communication student at 911吃瓜, [I] saw a need for programs to supplement students鈥 education, ensuring that they are equipped with valuable industry skills often developed outside the classroom.
