FHS Graduate Learning Hub

This FHS Learning Hub supports professional competency development for graduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Its purpose is to complement formal coursework by providing clear, curated resources that help students strengthen applied skills needed for practicum, thesis, and professional roles in public health and health research. The Hub brings together targeted learning supports in areas where students often seek additional guidance, including data analysis, research methods, communication, and professional practice.

The Learning Hub is designed to complement, not replace, the mentorship you receive from faculty, supervisors, and TAs. As you work through these materials, you are encouraged to bring specific questions to your instructors or research groups. Over time, this Hub will continue to expand to meet identified student needs.

How to use this hub

Begin by identifying a specific skill you want to build, such as learning R for data analysis, strengthening qualitative methods, or improving knowledge translation skills. Each section provides a set of recommended resources, along with guidance on how to decide which option is right for your learning level and academic goals. The intent is to help you progress without feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about where to start. The Hub also offers brief strategy guides to support effective learning. These explain how to structure self-study, how to integrate new skills into your practicum or thesis work, and how to use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) appropriately within academic and professional standards.
