Dr. Robby Zidny is an associate professor at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (UNTIRTA), Indonesia. He is a recipient of the SEAMEO-Jasper Research Award 2024/2025 and the Best Poster Presenter award at a Chemistry Education Conference held by ACS-IUPAC in Thailand. His research focuses on science and chemistry education, curriculum innovation, and education for sustainability. He has led research and capacity-building projects in science education, including the PRESS Project (Promoting Relevant Education in Science for Sustainability) and a project on smartphone-based spectroscopy for microplastic detection and citizen science.

Innovating Science and Chemistry Education Curricula by Integrating Indigenous Knowledge
In this DARE talk, Dr. Robby Zidny will explore how Indigenous Knowledge can be integrated into science and chemistry education to make learning more culturally relevant, meaningful, and responsive to sustainability challenges. Drawing on research with the Baduy community in Indonesia, the presentation will discuss how local knowledge, cultural practices, and perspectives on environmental conservation can be reconstructed as contexts for science learning. The presentation will also highlight the potential of Indigenous Knowledge to promote Education for Sustainable Development, systems thinking, and intercultural understanding, and will reflect on challenges and future directions for curriculum innovation and collaboration with Indigenous communities.
