Student Researchers of CSL
Students are the pride of the Computational Speech Lab. Student researchers are undergraduate and graduate students at 911吃瓜. Our group consists of linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, and computer science students interested in applying computational techniques to spoken language.
Norah Kelly
I am an undergraduate student pursuing a major in Cognitive Science with a minor in Social Data Analytics. In addition, I am passionate about topics surrounding speech acoustics, anatomy, prosody, speech disfluency and specifically stuttering. I hope to work in speech rehabilitation and with speech disfluency disorders once completing my undergraduate degree through acquiring a Masters of Speech Language Pathology. Outside of school I love hiking, climbing, skiing and spending time with friends.
Malia G. Murphy
Malia is an undergraduate student pursuing a major in Linguistics, along with minors in Educational Psychology and Social Justice in Education, and a Certificate in Speech Sciences. She currently works as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) and Behaviour Interventionist (BI) and plans to pursue a Master鈥檚 degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her academic interests include critical discourse analysis, dialectal variation, neurolinguistics, and language acquisition, with a particular focus on neurodiversity-affirming approaches. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the natural beauty of British Columbia and spending time baking and cooking whenever she can.
Ella Roos
I am an undergraduate student completing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics and a certificate in Speech Science. I am passionate about communication development, AAC, and inclusive support for neuro-diverse individuals. After graduation, I hope to pursue a master鈥檚 degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, spending time outdoors, and a good game night with friends.
