Sessional: BPK 306 Human Physiology II

Salary: $7718 (lectures) inclusive of 4% vacation pay

Lectures: 3 hours of lecture, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:30-11:20 a.m.

Location: Burnaby Campus

Dates: Fall 2026 Semester: September 2 to December 24, 2026

Course Descriptions

Qualifications:

A related graduate degree or equivalent qualification in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology or a related discipline together with evidence of teaching ability commensurate with the responsibility of teaching the assigned credit course and of carrying out the duties related to the effective conduct of that course.

For BPK 306, applicants must have the following:

  • Demonstrated excellence teaching human physiology at the undergraduate level.
  • Extensive knowledge of skeletal muscle physiology, neuromuscular physiology, muscle metabolism, neurophysiology, ion channel biophysics, synaptic transmission, sensory physiology, learning and memory, higher brain function, and neurological disease.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex physiological concepts at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels to undergraduate students.
  • Experience developing and delivering lectures, assessments, and learning activities in physiology, neuroscience, kinesiology, or closely related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate student learning through a variety of assessment formats, including experimental design and problem-solving questions.
  • Experience facilitating active learning, tutorials, team-based learning activities, or other student-centered instructional approaches.
  • Experience using learning management systems and educational technologies to support undergraduate teaching.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate programs and career pathways in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology is an asset.
