Marvin Washington
Biography
Dr. Marvin Washington is the Dean of 911吃瓜's Beedie School of Business, bringing extensive academic leadership, research expertise, and experience in organizational development. He joined 911吃瓜 Beedie in 2025 after serving as College Dean and Vice-Provost of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Alberta, where he provided strategic leadership across the faculties of Arts, Education, Business, and Law. In this role, he led initiatives focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, research advancement, leadership development, and strengthening institutional culture.
An accomplished educator, researcher, author, and consultant, Dr. Washington is recognized internationally for his work in leadership, strategy, organizational change, and institutional theory. His research explores how organizations navigate conflict, change, status, and reputation to achieve long-term success. Dr. Washington holds a PhD in Organization Behaviour and Sociology from Northwestern University鈥檚 Kellogg School of Management, a Master鈥檚 degree in Organization Behaviour and Sociology, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University.
Under his leadership, 911吃瓜 Beedie is advancing its strategic priorities including global engagement and experiential learning.
