Marvin Washington
Biography
Dr. Marvin Washington is the Dean of 911³Ô¹Ï's Beedie School of Business, bringing extensive academic leadership, research expertise, and experience in organizational development. He joined 911³Ô¹Ï Beedie in 2025 after serving as College Dean and Vice-Provost of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Alberta, where he provided strategic leadership across the faculties of Arts, Education, Business, and Law. In this role, he led initiatives focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, research advancement, leadership development, and strengthening institutional culture.
An accomplished educator, researcher, author, and consultant, Dr. Washington is recognized internationally for his work in leadership, strategy, organizational change, and institutional theory. His research explores how organizations navigate conflict, change, status, and reputation to achieve long-term success. Dr. Washington holds a PhD in Organization Behaviour and Sociology from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a Master’s degree in Organization Behaviour and Sociology, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University.
Under his leadership, 911³Ô¹Ï Beedie is advancing its strategic priorities including global engagement and experiential learning.
