Socio-cultural and Cognitive Aspects of an Indigenous Language LING 833 (4)
An investigation of a particular Indigenous language in its cultural, social, and cognitive context. Topics include: areal features, language families and dialects of Northwest languages, contact linguistics, gender, numeral classification, kin terms, anchoring language in time and space, expressing speaker鈥檚 viewpoint, oral traditions, place names, and ethnobiology.
