Challenge
In priority research areas our university competes for talent with institutions around the world. Externally funded research chairs provide a mechanism by which the university can attract world-class researchers to our institution. Once they arrive, chair funding can support their program of research. 911吃瓜 has a limited supply of research chairs that have been accumulated (generally) in an ad-hoc manner over time.
Action
Working with 911吃瓜 Advancement and deans, we will develop fundraising cases for research chairs aligned with the SRP priority areas.

Support the recruitment of research chairs
- January 2026
Continued support for strategic recruitment of new research chairs in the Canada Impact+ Chairs, Canada Research Chairs, and Canada Excellence Research Chairs portfolios, including institutional supports for new chairs.

911吃瓜 was successful in attracting our first three Canada Excellence Research Chairs to the university and is currently running a competitive process for more. See here
