Implementation science is the study of methods and strategies that facilitate the uptake, integration, and sustainability of evidence-based practices, programs, and policies in real-world settings.
The ISTI aims to build capacity in implementation science in British Columbia by increasing grant funding for projects by BC-based researchers and growing the province’s network of implementation scientists. The initiative is adapted from a proven program into a made-for-BC program.
The ISTI was founded in collaboration with Gen Creighton, Alia Januwalla, and Ugen Lhazin, formally of the UBC Knowledge Exchange unit.
Format
Two-year program with yearly 4-day in-person intensives led by ISTI faculty, quarterly webinar sessions, and monthly meetings with expert implementation science (IS) mentors. Includes a research stipend to cover research-related expenses.
Supported by UBC Health, Genome BC, and Fraser Health.
