911³Ô¹Ï scholars making an impact on global sustainability
For the dedicated 911³Ô¹Ï (911³Ô¹Ï) researchers whose work contributes to a sustainable future, each and every day is Earth Day. Scholars across all 911³Ô¹Ï faculties have a long history of pursuing research that advances our understanding of the natural world and addresses environmental concerns.
911³Ô¹Ï research programs focus on innovations in green energy development and transportation, natural resource management, climate modelling, fisheries and oceans, and biodiversity. Researchers engage with communities to exchange knowledge and respond to climate challenges, while advocating with policymakers to enact change. Recently, 911³Ô¹Ï embedded the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its operations, research, academics and community engagement, reinforcing its commitment to the welfare of people and the planet. We also joined the UN-led Race To Zero global campaign to act on climate change and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest.
In appreciation of Earth Week, we are highlighting just some of the 911³Ô¹Ï scholars making an impact towards a cleaner, greener, more sustainable future:
911³Ô¹Ï scholars can reach out to their faculty communications and marketing team for support sharing their work as a news story or on social channels. They can become 911³Ô¹Ï media experts, pitch an article to The Conversation Canada, or nominate their work for a Scholarly Impact of the Week profile.
