Synopsis

Higgs physics plays a crucial role in modern particle physics, as it provides the dynamics responsible for breaking electroweak symmetry and also allows us to understand the origin of particle mass. The Higgs boson can be produced at the Large Hadron Collider through several production modes, with gluon–gluon fusion being the dominant one. However, when a photon is included in the final state, the production hierarchy changes, and vector-boson fusion becomes the leading mechanism. The subsequent decay of the Higgs boson into two W bosons yields a distinctive signature consisting of two leptons and two jets from the vector boson fusion process, making this channel particularly promising for future analyses. In this analysis, using Monte Carlo-generated simulated data, we developed an optimized deep neural network classifier that demonstrates strong discriminating power between the V BF → γH → γWW signal and the background.
