Biography
Valentina Antoniol is a tenure-track researcher (Assistant Professor) in Political Philosophy in the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Bologna, Italy. She earned a PhD in Political Philosophy from the University of Bologna, in joint supervision with the 脡cole des Hautes 脡tudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, where she is affiliated with the LIER-FYT research center. Before taking up her current position, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bologna for three years and taught and conducted research as a Junior Assistant Professor at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. She has also been a Visiting Scholar at Brown University and at the City University of New York (CUNY).
Her research focuses on contemporary political philosophy and critical theory, with particular attention to the relations among war, conflict, security, sovereignty, and forms of political subjectivation.
She is the author of "Foucault critico di Schmitt. Genealogie e guerra" (Rubbettino, 2024) and "Foucault et la guerre. 脌 partir de Schmitt, contre Schmitt" (脡ditions Mim茅sis, 2023). She also co-edited, with Stefano Marino, "Foucault鈥檚 Aesthetics of Existence and Shusterman鈥檚 Somaesthetics: Ethics, Politics, and the Art of Living" (Bloomsbury Academic, 2024). Her articles have appeared in international journals and edited volumes, and she serves on the editorial and scientific boards of several journals and book series, including "Foucault Studies" and "Materiali foucaultiani."
