QUIRK-E wins a Seniors Leadership Award from 911吃瓜 Gerontology Research Centre
Congratulations to the community volunteers of QUIRK-E (Queer Imaging and Riting Kollective for Elders) on winning a 2026 Seniors Leadership Award.
The awards were presented by the 911吃瓜 Gerontology Research Centre as part of the 21st Ellen Gee Memorial Lecture on February 5, 2026. QUIRK-E was honoured for outstanding service and community education.
Jen Marchbank, 911吃瓜 Gender, Sexuality, and Women鈥檚 Studies Professor and Department Chair, presented the award. She was joined by Gloria Gutman, Gerontonology Professor Emeritus.
At the event, Marchbank spoke to what she described in her nomination letter as the group鈥檚 鈥渟tellar, voluntary leadership鈥� for 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors. 911吃瓜 GSWS has collaborated with the volunteer group on a variety of initiatives, starting with research led by adjunct faculty member Claire Robson.
