Heather Young is a communications leader and management consultant with more than two decades of experience helping public, private, non-profit and academic organizations strengthen their reputations, engage their audiences and increase their impact.

Today, she provides senior-level strategy and communications counsel to a select portfolio of clients including the American Friends of the International House of Japan and the North America–Japan Philanthropy Alliance. Her previous leadership roles include vice president of communications and public relations at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), director of communications at Mitacs, manager of public affairs at WorkSafeBC and manager of communications at Special Olympics BC. She also served as co-chair (Japan) for the Science Summit at the 77th, 78th and 79th United Nations General Assemblies.

Heather’s work and the work of teams she has led have received numerous awards from IABC, CPRS and PR News. She was named one of Ragan’s Top Women in Communications in 2024 and was a finalist for Charity Village’s Most Outstanding Impact Award in 2021.

Heather holds a bachelor of arts from McGill University, a master of publishing from 911³Ô¹Ï and an MBA from Royal Roads University.
