Sarah Ellis
Sarah Ellis is a municipal councillor for the District of Squamish and a housing policy practitioner with more than 15 years of experience across local government, regional coordination and nonprofit housing delivery.
Sarah spent eight years as a housing policy planner at the City of Vancouver, where she also led the Housing Vancouver 10-year strategy and co-chaired the Metro Vancouver regional housing subcommittee, working with municipalities across the region on shared approaches to housing need and supply.
She then became the founding executive director of Housing Squamish, a nonprofit community housing society, where she worked closely with the District of Squamish to deliver non-market and below-market rental homes by leveraging District land, policy and regulatory tools. Elected to Squamish council in 2026, she now brings that delivery experience to the policy-making side of the table.
Sarah holds a masters in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
